Today — The first of June. The high will be 75F and by end of week we will hit our first 90 degree day of the year. It has been a remarkable spring. A seed sower’s dream.
Warm season crops are ready now to take off with the approaching official first day of summer — the longest day of the year — Saturday June 20th. Also known as the “Summer Solstice”.
Our sweet corn, butter beans, snap beans and peas are getting established.
Tomato plants starting to flower.
Fresh herb flowers are covered with pollinators.
Cucumber vines reach out for support by way of trellises as well as the companion planting of speckled lima beans ready to climb.
Lemongrass has become established with abundant spring rains.
There is always a feeling of a fresh start with the return of our Hummingbirds this time of year.
Summer is a new beginning.
